Alabama
Pediatric Access to Telemental Health Services (PATHS)
Program Overview:
PATHS in Alabama provides three components within our PMHCA program: education for pediatric primary care providers in how to better recognize and care for children with mental health concerns, provider to provider consultation between enrolled primary care providers and the PATHS mental health team about specific patients they may be caring for, and in some more complex cases, direct services via telemedicine in the pediatric primary care office may be provided. PATHS began its' work focused on enrolling rural pediatricians, then began enrolling rural family practice providers, and is continuing to enroll any rural providers, but is also now enrolling urban practices. PATHS also provides care coordination services and referrals to specialists when needed.
