Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (MD BHIPP)
Program Overview:
MD BHIPP is a well-established, statewide child psychiatry access program that supports the capacity of pediatric primary care providers in Maryland to address their patients’ mental health from infancy through young adulthood. All offerings are free to providers and their patients and include:
In-person and web-based training opportunities with CME
Workforce development through: a) co-location of social work interns in primary care practices with expanded training in evidence-based practices, and b) enhanced training for students in healthcare professions
Web-based, longitudinal learning through multiple Project ECHO tracks
Direct tele-mental health services including evaluation
Care coordination
BHIPP is staffed by a multidisciplinary team and operates as a partnership among several universities including University of Maryland, Baltimore, the Johns Hopkins University, Salisbury University, and the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. BHIPP also has enduring partnerships with community organizations across that state through which additional training, technical assistance, and support are offered.
