Maryland Behavioral Health Integration in Pediatric Primary Care (MD BHIPP)

MD BHIPP is a well-established, statewide child psychiatry access program that supports the capacity of pediatric primary care providers in Maryland to address their patients’ mental health from infancy through young adulthood. All offerings are free to providers and their patients and include:

  1. In-person and web-based training opportunities with CME

  2. Workforce development through: a) co-location of social work interns in primary care practices with expanded training in evidence-based practices, and b) enhanced training for students in healthcare professions

  3. Web-based, longitudinal learning through multiple Project ECHO tracks

  4. Direct tele-mental health services including evaluation

  5. Care coordination

BHIPP is staffed by a multidisciplinary team and operates as a partnership among several universities including University of Maryland, Baltimore, the Johns Hopkins University, Salisbury University, and the University of Maryland, Eastern Shore. BHIPP also has enduring partnerships with community organizations across that state through which additional training, technical assistance, and support are offered.
